    Adani Group inks pact with Bhutan co

    The Adani Group and Bhutan's Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) have partnered to develop 5,000 MW of hydropower projects in Bhutan. This agreement expands their existing collaboration on the Wangchhu Hydropower Project. The initiative supports Bhutan's goal of achieving 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2040, focusing on hydropower and pumped storage projects.

    Mumbai: The Adani Group on Thursday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bhutan's Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to jointly develop 5,000 MW of hydropower projects in Bhutan. The MoU builds on the ongoing partnership for 570/900 MW Wangchhu Hydropower Project, in which DGPC will hold 51% stake and the Adani Group will hold 49%.

    "The broader 5,000 MW initiative will encompass additional hydropower and pumped storage projects to be identified, Detailed Project Reports prepared, and taken forward for implementation in phases," the company said in a press statement.

    The initiative aligns with Bhutan's Renewable Energy Roadmap, which aims to achieve an additional 20,000 MW of generation capacity by 2040.
