2025 had been a trying year for Karisma Kapoor. The veteran actress lost her ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, in a bizarre accident earlier this month. The ‘Raja Hindustani’ star, who turned 51 on Wednesday, received an emotional note from her loving sister Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Taking to Instagram, the ‘Jab We Met’ star shared a throwback picture of her elder sister posing with Saif Ali Khan and wrote that this was her favourite picture of both of them. She also hinted that 2025 had been challenging for her family, but she is confident that her resilient sister will be able to overcome setbacks with grace and dignity.

A Sudden Loss: The Passing of Sunjay Kapur
According to an ANI news update, Sunjay Kapur died under alarming circumstances while playing polo in London’s prestigious Guards Polo Club. Mid-match, he began experiencing severe breathing problems. After excusing himself from the game, he left the field, only to suffer a fatal cardiac arrest shortly afterward.
Sources close to the situation suggested a highly unusual cause: the businessman may have accidentally swallowed a bee, resulting in a sting to his throat. This incident possibly triggered an extreme allergic reaction that led to his heart failure. Kapur, known for being an avid polo player, was the patron of his own team, 'Aureus'. On the day of his death, he was competing against ‘Sujan’, a team led by hotelier Jaisal Singh. Following his passing, the ‘Aureus’ team shared a picture of him on Instagram as a tribute.
Kareena’s Own Turmoil: A Terrifying Attack at Home
The Kapoor family’s distress in 2025 wasn’t limited to Karisma’s loss. Kareena herself faced a terrifying personal ordeal in January when her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, was attacked in their home. The assailant stabbed him six times, with one of the blows landing dangerously close to his neck. The incident occurred at their residence in a high-end locality, shaking their sense of safety.
As reported by the BBC, a domestic nurse named Eliyama Philip revealed to authorities that she first noticed a mysterious figure lurking outside the bathroom while attending to the children. Later, a 30-year-old suspect identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir was recognized by two household staff members and was taken into police custody.
