    Hyderabad doctor orders drugs worth Rs 5 lakh on WhatsApp, arrested

    In Hyderabad, Doctor Namrata Chigurupati was arrested. She allegedly purchased cocaine worth Rupees 5 lakh. Police caught her receiving the drugs via courier. The supplier, Vansh Dhakkar from Mumbai, and his aide Balakrishna were also arrested. Doctor Namrata reportedly ordered the cocaine through WhatsApp. Police seized cash, cocaine, and cell phones.

    A doctor in Hyderabad was arrested after she was allegedly caught buying cocaine worth Rs 5 lakh, police officers said.

    The accused has been identified as Namrata Chigurupati. The doctor, who resigned as the CEO of the Omega Hospitals six months, was arrested when she was receiving cocaine via courier from a Mumbai-based supplier, Vansh Dhakkar.

    Dhakkar's aide, Balakrishna, was also caught along with Chigurupati during the delivery. \

    The 34-year-old doctor contacted Dhakkar on WhatsApp and placed an order for cocaine worth Rs 5 lakh. She transferred the amount online.

    "A medical practitioner, Namrata, had ordered drugs from Vansh in Mumbai, who was known to her. A person called Balakrishna then came to supply (the drugs) and handed them over to her at Rayadurgam," senior police officer Venkanna said.

    "Police tracked and caught them. Rs 10,000 cash, 53 grams of cocaine and two cell phones were seized from them," he added.

    Cases have been filed under relevant sections against the two, and they have been sent to judicial custody, Venkanna said.

    During interrogation, the doctor reportedly confessed to spending about Rs 70 lakh on drugs over time.
