    Trump's birthday and US Army's $45 million military parade: Know the full schedule, how to book tickets, livestream details

    Thousands of troops will hit the streets of Washington D.C. on Saturday to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Army. The event will also coincide with the 79th birthday of US President Donald Trump, who says the parade will be "like no other".

    Officially, the day is meant to honor the 250th birthday of the US Army. But since the day coincides with the President's birthday- the military spectacle has become one of the most controversial and polarizing public displays in the nation’s capital in years.

    The event - which the Army has said could cost up to $45 million (£33 million) - will include over 7,000 uniformed soldiers, dozens of tanks and military vehicles, plus marching bands and a fireworks show. Meanwhile, pro-democracy groups have planned protests against the Trump administration in than 1,500 cities across the US. Organisers are billing the demonstrations as a "nationwide day of defiance" in response to "corruption" in the government, reports BBC.

    When will the military parade begin?

    The military parade is scheduled to begin at around 18:00 local time (23:00 GMT) on Saturday, 14 June and take place around the National Mall which includes the Washington Monument Grounds. According to BBC, though tickets are not required for the big day but registering for them on the US Army's website is said to ensure a better view.

    According to Times, officials are planning for the largest parade in Washington since a 1991 celebration that followed the Gulf War, with more than 6,600 soldiers, 150 military vehicles, and 50 aircraft participating.

    The Army said it expects to spend between $25 million to $45 million on the events. A viewing stand near the White House has been erected for the President, who is expected to speak. Organised by the US Army and America250 commission, the event is expected to draw around 200,000 attendees, according to officials. The day will feature military pageantry, vehicle displays, fireworks, an airshow, and heightened security throughout the city.

    "Thundering tanks and breath-taking flyovers will roar through our capital city," Trump said. Trump has promised the event will be "unforgettable," and one "like you've never seen before."

    "It's gonna be something very, very special," Trump said in a June 6 video posted to Truth Social. "I don't think we've ever done one quite like this. We're gonna be celebrating the Army and our military."

    Date and time of military parade in US

    The military parade will take place on June 14 on Constitution Avenue near the National Mall in the heart of Washington. The US Army said that the event will kick off at 6:30 pm and conclude around 7:30 pm. A fireworks show will follow the parade at 9:45 pm.

    The parade will start at the Pentagon's north parking lot in Arlington, Virginia, and it will cross the Arlington Memorial Bridge and proceed along Constitution Avenue NW from 23rd Street to 15th Street, covering 0.89 miles, as per USA Today.

    Do you need tickets for Trump's military parade?

    Not necessarily. However, those who register for tickets on the US Army's event website will likely get the best view of the procession, according to USA Today.

    According to the U.S. Army, guests are invited to convene along the parade route or view from the Washington Monument Grounds. Tickets for the parade are limited, but those interested in attending the parade on June 14 can RSVP here. Prospective attendees will be asked to provide their full name, phone number, email, state and zip code.

    The U.S. Army will livestream all of the events for the 250th anniversary, including the parade, on all social media platforms for those who are unable to attend the celebration in person.

    Flight and Transportation disruptions

    Reagan National Airport (DCA) will suspend all arrivals and departures from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., impacting more than 100 flights, according to FAA estimates. Road closures and parking restrictions will be in place from the days leading up to the event through Monday, June 16.

    The northwest entrance of the Smithsonian Metro station will be closed. Additionally, the Coast Guard will restrict access to the Potomac River between Hains Point and Key Bridge.
