Bengaluru Weather: Rainwater inside houses, traffic jams; Tech city wakes up to severe waterlogging
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in 23 districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, from Monday through Thursday, warning of moderate to heavy thundershowers, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50–60 km/h. Intense rains on Sunday caused severe waterlogging in several low-lying areas of Bengaluru, which recorded approximately 40 mm of rain over 24 hours, with widespread rainfall expected throughout the week due to an upper-air cyclonic circulation and a moisture-pulling trough.
