PM Meets Def Secy; Pak Cyber Attacks Continue
In continued meetings with the top defence leadership to take stock of operational preparedness, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met defence secretary RK Singh on Monday, even as ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the Line of Control (LoC) spread to eight locations.

The PM has previously met the Navy and IAF chiefs to take stock of the situation.

Since the terror attack in which 26 civilians lost their lives, there has been a steady stream of unprovoked firing by Pakistani army posts on LoC. Army officials said on Sunday night, small arms fire was recorded at eight places including Sunderbani and Akhnoor. The firing has been responded to appropriately, they added.

Sources said there has been a scaling up of offensive cyber operations by Pakistani operators as well and measures have been taken to bolster security infrastructure, strengthen digital defences and safeguard against intrusion attempts.

A Pakistani group named 'Pakistan Cyber Force' has allegedly gained access to sensitive data from the Indian Military Engineering Service and Manohar Parrikar Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis, sources said, adding that the attackers claim to have compromised personal information related to defence officials.

In another instance, the group also attempted to deface the official website of Armoured Vehicle Nigam Ltd, a defence public sector unit. The attempt made was to deface the website using the Pakistani flag and an image of its Al Khalid tank.

Sources said as a precautionary measure, the website has been taken offline for a deep audit to assess the extent of any potential damage caused by the defacement attempt and to ensure the integrity of the website. Earlier, efforts were made to target websites of military schools and veteran welfare organisations.
