Chennai Super Kings registered a comprehensive 83-run win in their last league match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Batting first after winning the toss, CSK scored a massive score of 231/4 in 20 overs. Devon Conway gave the team a solid start with 52 runs off 35 balls, while his opening partner Ayush Mhatre smashed 34 runs off just 17 balls, including three fours and as many sixes. The momentum was carried forward by Urvil Patel, who scored 37 runs in 19 balls. Dewald Brevis gave the team a stunning finish as he smashed 57 runs off only 23 balls with four fours and five sixes.

For GT, Prasidh Krishna, who holds the Purple Cap, bowled an outstanding spell of 2/22 in four overs. However, all the other bowlers were taken down by the CSK batters, leaking more than 10 runs an over.

Chasing the target, Gujarat got off to a poor start, losing captain Shubman Gill in the third over. Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford followed soon. This was the first time the franchise lost three wickets within the powerplay. Only Sai Sudharsan was among runs as he scored 41 runs. The next best was Arshad Khan's 20 coming lower down the order as the team folded for 147 runs in 18.3 overs.

CSK's bowlers were led by young Anshul Kamboj who bowled a brilliant spell of 3/13, while Noor Ahmed picked 3/21. Ravindra Jadeja also grabbed a couple of wickets.

With the result, the winner of Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings will definitely finish at the top of the table and play Qualifier 1. If Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Lucknow Super Giants in the final league-stage match, Bengaluru will play Qualifier 1. However, if RCB loses, GT will finish second and get two chances to play the final.
