
Chasing 188 runs to win, RR got off to a flying start as Yashavsvi Jaiswal hit 36 runs off 19 balls, including five fours and two sixes. It was then that Suryavanshi took forward the momentum. He smashed 57 runs off just 33 balls, including four fours and as many maximums. Captain Sanju Samson scored 41 runs to navigate the innings through the middle overs, while Dhruv Jurel finished with a flourish, scoring an unbeaten 31 off just 12 balls.
For CSK, experienced spinner R Ashwin took the wickets of Samson and Suryavanshi in a single over. However, there was not much for other bowlers. Anshul Kamboj bowled an economical spell of 1/21 in 3 overs.
Earlier CSK scored 187/8 riding on 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre's 20-ball 43 runs and Dewald Brevis' 25-ball 42 runs. However, the team had lost three wickets inside the powerplay and five wickets inside 10 overs. Shivam Dube steadied the ship with 39 runs off 32 balls.
Young Indian pacers Akash Madhwal and Yudhvir Singh Charak picked up three wickets each for RR.
RR will hold on the 9th position for now, while Chennai sit at the bottom of the table. Both teams have already been knocked out of IPL 2025.
