Indian benchmark, Sensex and Nifty, ended higher on Thursday, driven by strong gains in financial and metal stocks, as a weaker U.S. dollar and easing Middle East tensions boosted sentiment.
The Sensex soared 1,000 points to close at 83,755, while the Nifty rallied 304 points to end at 25,549 — both up 1.21%. Investor wealth swelled by Rs 3.33 lakh crore as BSE’s total market cap hit Rs 457.33 lakh crore.
A weaker dollar lifted metal stocks, pushing the Nifty Metal index up 2.3%, while Nifty Bank and Financial Services gained 1% and 1.5%, respectively.

Sebi extends rebalancing timeline rule to all passive MF breaches
Market regulator Sebi on Thursday said that timelines for portfolio rebalancing in mutual fund schemes will now be applicable to all types of passive breaches across actively managed schemes, which was earlier limited to only asset allocation.

Crypto exchange Kraken on Thursday launched a peer-to-peer payments app that enables users to send and receive funds - in both cryptocurrency and fiat currency - across more than a hundred countries.

Financial services company Capital group on Thursday bought shares of asset and wealth management firm 360 ONE WAM for Rs 245 crore through an open market transaction.
US-based Capital group, through its affiliate New World Fund, Inc, purchased 20.94 lakh shares or 0.52 per cent stake in Mumbai-based 360 ONE WAM, as per the bulk deal data on the BSE.
The transaction was valued around Rs 245.02 crore, executed at an average price of Rs 1,170 apiece.

The U.S. economy shrank at a 0.5% annual pace from January through March as President Donald Trump’s trade wars disrupted business, the Commerce Department reported Thursday in a downgrade from its previous estimate.

Sales of listed manufacturing firms rise 6 pc in FY25: RBI data
Sales of listed manufacturing sector companies rose by 6 per cent during 2024-25 as compared to 3.5 per cent growth in the preceding year, mainly led by automobiles, electrical machinery, food and beverages, and pharmaceuticals industries, according to RBI data.
On the other hand, among the major industries, petroleum and iron & steel sectors recorded a contraction in their sales during 2024-25, it said.

Reliance Infra shares end over 3% higher; hit 52-week high
Shares of Reliance Infrastructure continued to remain in the limelight on Thursday, climbing over 3 per cent, after the company's promoted Reliance Defence Ltd announced securing a Rs 600-crore export order from German defence and ammunition manufacturer Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH.
The stock jumped 3.33 per cent to settle at Rs 417.50 on the BSE. During the day, it surged 4.93 per cent to hit the 52-week high of Rs 424.

Oil steady as investors shift focus to demand signals
Oil prices edged higher on Thursday as investors remained cautious about the Iran-Israel ceasefire and shifted their attention to market fundamentals after a stockdraw in the United States.
Brent crude futures rose 34 cents, or 0.5%, to $68.02 a barrel by 1055 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude gained 35 cents, or 0.5%, to $65.27 a barrel.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday announced plans to launch electricity futures contracts within the next 2–3 weeks, enabling power buyers, sellers, traders, and industrial users to hedge against price volatility.

Nifty has given a decisive move above the recent consolidation on the daily chart, indicating growing optimism among traders and investors. Unprecedented put writing and call unwinding ahead of the NSE monthly expiry also signaled bullish aggression yesterday. Now that the index has broken above the consolidation zone, we continue to maintain our bullish view going forward. With no major resistance until the 25,700–25,750 zone, we expect this rally to extend by another 150–200 points on the upside. On the downside, support is seen around 25,300–25,350.
