Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 10:04AM

Pokarna Ltd.(up 3.77%), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(up 2.30%), Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(up 1.86%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.86%), Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(up 1.53%), MOIL Ltd.(up 1.14%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(up 1.03%), 20 Microns Ltd.(up 1.03%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(up 0.97%) and KIOCL Ltd.(up 0.74%) were among the top gainers.

NMDC Ltd.(down 0.26%) and Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 0.18%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 27.11 points down at 24387.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 19.33 points at 80727.45 at around 10:04AM.

Tata Motors Ltd.(up 2.86%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.86%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.19%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 1.12%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(up 0.99%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.97%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 0.93%), State Bank of India(up 0.88%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 0.63%) and Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.57%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.55%), ITC Ltd.(down 1.37%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.3%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 1.23%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.13%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 1.07%), Cipla Ltd.(down 1.07%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.96%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.95%) and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.88%) were trading in the red.
