Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

Adani Green Energy Ltd.(up 6.68%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(up 6.12%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 6.07%), Adani Power Ltd.(up 5.96%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(up 4.26%), Inox Wind Ltd.(up 4.19%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(up 3.94%), CESC Ltd.(up 3.81%), GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd.(up 3.59%) and Inox Wind Energy Ltd.(up 3.37%) stood among the top gainers.

PTC India Ltd.(down 2.71%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(down 0.92%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(down 0.88%), Torrent Power Ltd.(down 0.84%), NHPC Ltd.(down 0.43%), KEC International Ltd.(down 0.38%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd.(down 0.32%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(down 0.17%), NLC India Ltd.(down 0.10%) and NTPC Green Energy Ltd.(down 0.02%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 114.46 points up at 24461.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 294.85 points at 80796.84.

Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 7.04%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 6.32%), Trent Ltd.(up 4.33%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 4.08%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd.(up 3.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 3.26%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 3.19%), ITC Ltd.(up 1.56%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.54%) and Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.47%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 4.59%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 1.82%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.74%), State Bank of India(down 1.25%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.99%), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.77%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 0.74%), Titan Company Ltd.(down 0.58%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.51%) and Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.41%) closed in the red.
