Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 182.34 points at 81330.56

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed higher in the Wednesday's session.

ACME Solar Holdings Ltd.(up 7.58%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(up 5.34%), KKV Agro Powers Ltd.(up 4.97%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(up 4.76%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd.(up 4.37%), Suzlon Energy Ltd.(up 4.03%), Ravindra Energy Ltd.(up 3.46%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 3.43%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(up 3.10%) and NHPC Ltd.(up 2.91%) stood among the top gainers.

Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 2.01%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(down 1.49%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(down 1.38%), NTPC Ltd.(down 0.87%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 0.84%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(down 0.39%) and Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(down 0.15%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 88.56 points up at 24666.9, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 182.34 points at 81330.56.

Tata Steel Ltd.(up 3.94%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 2.9%), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(up 2.57%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 2.49%), Coal India Ltd.(up 2.02%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 2.02%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.96%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 1.83%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.58%) and Infosys Ltd.(up 1.52%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Asian Paints Ltd.(down 1.82%), Cipla Ltd.(down 1.67%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.24%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 1.1%), NTPC Ltd.(down 0.87%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 0.84%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 0.63%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd.(down 0.41%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.31%) and State Bank of India(down 0.14%) closed in the red.
