    BSF Eastern Command reviews India-Bangladesh border security in Assam

    Mahesh Kumar Agrawal, ADG of BSF’s Eastern Command, reviewed the security situation along the India-Bangladesh border during a visit to Guwahati Frontier on 13 May 2025. He was briefed on operational readiness and emerging threats. Agrawal met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam Police DG Harmeet Singh to discuss border security. He also addressed BSF personnel at a Prahari Sammelan, stressing the need for increased vigilance in light of developments in Bangladesh and challenges on the India-Pakistan border.

    In a joint operation, the Border Security Force and Tripura Police apprehended eleven Bangladeshi nationals

    Guwahati: Mahesh Kumar Agrawal, Additional Director General, Border Security Force (Eastern Command), Kolkata, reviewed the current security scenario along the India-Bangladesh international border during his visit to the Border Security Force, Guwahati Frontier.

    Sukhdev Raj, Inspector General, Guwahati Frontier, along with staff officers, briefed him on the current security arrangements and operational preparedness along the India-Bangladesh international boundary. Insights into the unrest in Bangladesh, the emerging security challenges, and measures being taken to curb cross-border crimes were also discussed/provided.

    During his visit on 13th May 2025, Agrawal also held a formal meeting with Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, and apprised him of matters related to border security.

    Sarma lauded the excellent operational efforts of the BSF for safeguarding the Indo-Bangladesh international border in Assam.

    Agrawal also met Harmeet Singh, Director General of Assam Police, and discussed the prevailing security scenario along the India-Bangladesh international boundary.

    Agrawal interacted with border men during the "Prahari Sammelan" at the Frontier Headquarters in Guwahati.

    He praised the BSF personnel deployed along the international border for effective domination and commendable duties. Highlighting the changing scenario in Bangladesh and the current security challenges on the India-Pakistan border, he emphasized the need for heightened alertness and vigilance on the border to ensure a prompt and effective response to any adverse situation.
