    The Shri Hemkund Sahib Yatra 2025 has begun. The first group of Sikh pilgrims started their journey under police protection. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed devotees. He highlighted the government's commitment to a secure pilgrimage. The shrine will open on May 25. Ropeway projects for Kedarnath and Shri Hemkund Sahib are approved. Governor Gurmit Singh thanked everyone involved.

The successful season concluded with the closure of Badrinath Dham for the winter on November 17, following the earlier closures of Kedarnath, Gangotri, Hemkund Sahib, and Lokpal Laxman Temple.

    Hemkund Sahib Yatra: Travel ban imposed for children, elderly due to heavy snow

    Officials have banned children and elders older than 60 from travelling following heavy snowfall in Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh pilgrimage site located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The site, which has been covered in eight feet of snow since the start of the year, is scheduled to re-open on 20 May. While the Chamoli district administration aims to limit the number of pilgrims, the Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara Management Committee has also announced that it will not permit sick or elderly people or children to travel until further notice.
