For former US First Lady Jill Biden, there is now a new job after her four-year journey in the White House recently concluded in January this year. Jill, who has been married to ex-President Joe Biden since 1977, will now be heading an initiative by a think tank based in California that looks forward to improving women's health, Fox News reported.
The official release states that the institution, via this initiative, looks forward to serving as a worldwide collaborative to collate and advance the new as well as existing efforts across the health ecosystem for women.
On her joining, Jill Biden said the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research, which she led earlier, worked towards several crucial investments for research and development work, ranging from healthy aging to endometriosis. Further, it aimed at taking forward such efforts across multiple industries to help bring these innovations to newer heights.
The 73-year-old was "honoured" to be part of the initiative.
It works towards collaborating "best ideas" and resources to come up with blueprints that can ultimately help them to take on some of the "most critical global issues."
As the former first lady, Jill Biden had earlier worked towards the Biden Cancer Moonshot's plan to bring an end to cancer, among other initiatives. Being a teacher, she holds a doctorate in education.
On Monday, she remained present during the think tank's 28th annual Global Conference, which was organised in California's Beverly Hills.
Some of the other guests at the event included former British PM Tony Blair and Scott Bessent, who is the Treasury Secretary in Donald Trump administration, among others.
In 2023, the then-US President Biden introduced the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research after he signed a presidential memorandum in this regard. The initiative was led by Jill and it worked towards getting funding along with research work in women's health.
At the event earlier this week, Jill said the former US President was eager to "infuse" the government with money through this initiative. They were able to get in $1 billion in a year's time to advance women's health research, she added.
She was earlier associated with the Northern Virginia Community College from 2009 until December last year.
