    Manila airport power restored, as outage triggers flight cancellations

    The main terminal of Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila has had power restored, after almost nine hours of outage, during which 48 Cebu Pacific flights were cancelled. Emergency backup enabled some computer systems, but many passengers were stranded and delayed. Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista refused to rule out sabotage as a possibility. The outage follows an incident in January, when flights were cancelled due to air traffic control failure caused by a power outage. Six of the Philippines' biggest business groups have made a $1.79bn bid to upgrade and operate the airport.

    Thousands stranded at Philippine airports due to power outage

    Tens of thousands of travellers were stranded at Philippine airports on Sunday after a power outage knocked out communication and radar equipment at the country's busiest hub in Manila, forcing hundreds of flights to be cancelled, delayed or diverted.
